Tru Blood Spill Closes Highway

SUGAR LAND, Texas — A big rig hauling a load of synthetic blood overturned on the Highway 59 feeder in Sugar Land Thursday afternoon. Police believe it will take up to four hours to clean the bloody mess off the roadway.

Meanwhile, the southbound feeder of Highway 59 and Highway 6 eastbound have been closed since 4:30 p.m.

Sugar Land police said the tanker truck was attempting to make a turn from the southbound feeder of US 59 onto State Highway 6 when the truck hit a curb and jack-knifed. The truck was carrying about 8,000 gallons of the synthetic Japanese blood known as Tru Blood, much of it spilled onto State Highway 6.

The driver of the truck was taken to Sugar Land Methodist Hospital and was being treated for minor head injuries.

I heard about this on the news a few days ago but hadn’t been able to find the story online until now. Thanks, Endlessdeep and trueblood_tv!

I wonder if that was going to the bottling plant or to a private party?

Ha! I was reading through the entries and when I got to this one at first I was surprised and then I started cracking up laughing. I didn’t think I’d see this here. It’s very cool though. Thanks to whoever posted it for me. :)

This is a lie. I live in Houston Texas. And if a big rig tipped over and closed down a feeder. I would have known about it. Regardless of what it was carrying.

At least reports say it was a simple jackknife. I’d be much more worried had it been deliberate…

    Nice. This looks almost real.
But I seriously doubt that it is.
